As we head toward the end of another year, two things are on my mind: finishing well and the changing business world.
I am a strategist. I just cannot help myself!
My brain is constantly joining dots, spotting opportunities and thinking about what comes next. Sometimes before we have even finished talking about what is in front of us!
With AI now part of our everyday lives, we have more tools than ever to work smarter, faster, and more efficiently.
I love that. It also gets me thinking.
AI can give you answers, but are they the right answers for YOU and your business?
AI can write a business plan, analyse information, generate ideas, and help you make sense of the hundred things going through your head.
Who asks the questions you haven’t thought to ask? Who challenges your assumptions, understands what is happening behind the numbers?
That is where I believe the human connection remains invaluable.
After 30 years working alongside business owners, I know that business is never just about business. It is about people, aspirations, relationships, confidence, challenges and sometimes the conversations we would rather avoid.
Which brings me to finishing the year well.
The diary is filling up, everyone wants everything done before Christmas, and suddenly we are all racing towards the finish line.
What does finishing well actually look like?
Is it getting everything ticked off? Or is it taking a moment to ask:
What genuinely needs my attention before Christmas?
What can wait until next year?
What is working, what is not, and what needs to change?
What do I want my business, and myself, to look like heading into 2027?
Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is stop doing more and start focusing on what matters.
That is the mahi I love.
