A GOLDEN time to get ahead

Kia ora

Clocks turned back, firewood stacked, winter blankets unpacked?

Yep. Winter. Is. On. Its. Way.

So summer was a dead loss, but believe me, there is PLENTY to get excited about over the next few weeks. I love this time of year for soooo many different reasons. Matariki coming up fast, a KING’S birthday public holiday to look forward to, and I bet plenty of you were happy to wave goodbye to tax season and the end of the financial year?!

Secret. Another reason I love this time of year is because I motivate myself to quicken the pace, not slow down. Winter to me is structure and restructure, forward planning, ticking off those nagging tasks, so I emerge into the spring sushine a step ahead and ready for anything!

This rings true for those good-old finances I just mentioned. End of the financial year also means the beginning of a new one! Yeay! A GOLDEN time to get ahead.

I always tell clients that finances don’t hibernate. It’s advisable not to wait until the end of the financial year to check in so you don’t have any nasty surprises. They’re a year-round job. Now is the time to grab your P&L by the horns and snuggle down between the balance sheets.

Why? When you control your numbers, you control your business. You control YOU.

They inform and influence your business goals, so you need to have systems in place to measure and check your success.

You’d be amazed how many business owners are fuzzled on their numbers. It’s a lot to juggle. That’s okay. But how can you plan for the next 12, 24 and 36 months – and determine what success looks like – if you don’t know your numbers?

Just knowing a little more about your key financials can shape everything you do, better. Impact the choices you make, better. And when you’ve got them sorted, it puts you on the front foot to do GREAT things.

You can link better to your strategic plan. It’s also how you measure success. Success to you might not be all about the putea, but however you want to measure your success, you do need to have the numbers to make it happen.

One of the many things I love about my work is ensuring that you are on your way to meeting your financial, personal and professional aspirations. It’s my passion. However that looks to you, it’s more acheiveable when your strategy and goals are linked solidly to your financial knowhow.

Need someone in your corner? You don’t need to be a financial whizz, but having a solid grasp of your financial situation at your fingertips – and using that knowledge to run your business better – is the super power to make the best decisions, plan for the future and ultimately ensure the long-term success of the business. And YOU.
